About our Finance Team:
Our Treasury team is growing and we’re looking for a Senior Manager, Markets to join the team. You’ll report into the Deputy Treasurer with oversight from the Treasurer and be responsible for the day-to-day Treasury markets operations. Your core job will be managing the growing Treasury investment portfolio, conducting all dealing activities, analysing wholesale credit risk and leading all wholesale funding transactions including capital markets issuance at Monzo.
You'll drive product and system development to deliver new product capability and automation, and enhance the existing Treasury infrastructure and market access / relationship. You will also need to have working knowledge of other areas of Treasury in a bank. This includes understanding of FTP, ALM and being willing to help and develop the overall Treasury team.
The Role
Everyday you’ll:
- Manage Treasury investment portfolio, whilst ensuring compliance with wholesale credit risk appetite, income budgets and regulatory requirements. Identifying potential assets, securing credit limits and executing purchases. Managing liquidity requirements through selling, repoing or reverse repoing securities as needed
- Conduct all dealing activities including the management of the BoE reserve account and execution of derivatives hedging (interest rate swaps / FX), secured financing transactions and investment securities
- Invest and analyse of wholesale credit risk in government and SSAs debt as well as securitisation transactions including covered bonds and asset backed securities (e.g. mortgages, consumer assets)
- Develop and deliver Monzo’s wholesale funding strategy, including unsecured wholesale funding, development of secured funding capability (e.g. GMRA, SMF) and capital markets issuance (e.g. Tier 2, senior, securitisation). Ensuring transactions are documented in line with regulatory requirements and best practices
- Maintain relationships with key advisors / banks to identify and drive optimal funding / investment opportunities, including structuring and pricing decisions.
- Lead, motivate and develop the Treasury Markets team
- Promote and represent Monzo at industry functions / forums to develop and drive initiatives such as alternative funding and product development
- Contribute to the production of the applicable ILAAP / ICAAP / RRP sections
- Contribute to the ALCo pack and presenting at ALCo when required
- Lead change initiatives / projects (e.g. improvements of existing systems)
- Develop relationships with regulator where required
- Lead best practice approach to all areas of Treasury operations
- Work with teams across finance, second & third line defence
You should apply if:
- You have significant experience working at a bank and have in depth knowledge of several areas of Treasury (particularly financial markets)
- You have the desire to have key role in developing how Treasury works at Monzo
- You have extensive knowledge of standards that are expected by regulators and how to deliver against them
- You have proven ability to coordinate, develop and lead teams
- You have experience building strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels within the business
